Puerto Rico

January 14 – 23, 2017

Spend 10 days and 9 glorious nights with us in
once-in-a-lifetime RHYTHM ADVENTURE to Puerto Rico!!!

Oakland, CA-based percussionists and drum teachers Robert “Bobby” Wallace and Ben Isaacs will lead you on a pulsating, drum-filled tour of this musically rich island, with special emphasis on the Rhythms of Puerto Rico: bomba, plena, rumba, salsa and more.

We will hear and play live music every day and every night as we immerse ourselves in the MUSIC and culture of Puerto Rico. Eddie Palmeiri, Ray Barretto, Fania All-Stars, and Cultura Profetica are just a few of the musicians/bands from PR. We will explore the incredible music of the island while also visiting Old San Juan, El Yunque National Forest, and the gorgeous beach town of Punta Santiago, soaking up the Puerto Rican style and vibe.

Drum students will savor FIVE HOURS a day of world-class percussion lessons with Robert “Bobby” Wallace (Margareth Menezes, Airto Moreira, Bonnie Riatt, David Rudder), Ben Isaacs (Djialy Kunda Kouyate, Balla Tounkara, Panjea, Nabi Camara, Onye Onyamachi), and top Puerto Rican percussionists! Rhythms taught will span the globe: music from Brazil, Africa, Oakland and, of course, PUERTO RICO.

All-inclusive price of $1,799 includes beautiful accommodations (9 nights) all meals with our personal, Puerto Rican chef, serving us fresh and local cuisine, all drum classes, and our excursion to El Yunque National Forrest. (Does not include airfare to/from Puerto Rico or transfers to/from the airport.)

We’ll start in the gorgeous Puerto Rican coastal town of Punta Santiago for six nights of beach, drums, percussion, relaxation
and SUNSHINE, including an excursion to El Yunque National Forest for hiking and swimming in the crystal clear waterfalls.

We’ll then head to the center of Puerto Rican culture in Old San Juan for three nights of MUSICAL MAGIC during Puerto Rico’s San Sebastian Festival, the nation’s largest street party, complete with parades, street jams, dancing and celebration of culture.
